For many of us Easter is a time for stuffing our faces with far too much chocolate that presents itself to us in the shape of eggs, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and the worst culprit white chocolate! Why the worst? Because it disguises itself as chocolate but really it is just sugar and milk and raises our blood sugar sky high putting too much strain on our system and causing overload to many of our internal organs, then causing a crashing low effect – fatigue and weary thoughts, which then sparks off the ‘have some more you will feel better’ sugar cycle. I know this sounds a bit harsh but I am merely presenting the reality… Easter is another opportunity to gorge on sugar and call it a treat!
I have nothing against chocolate, I love it, but all in moderation and that is one thing that us humans find difficult to perfect… moderation. Either we seem to be eating too much of it or abstaining altogether for fear of getting fat and it doesn’t seem to get better the older you get! Moderation is the key but it is also a skill that we need to learn and one that usually takes patience, time and commitment. Something us humans are not that brilliant at. It is achievable though… it just takes patience, time and commitment!
Seriously though please take a look at your sugar in take this Easter… not just the sugar you may or may not add to things but the hidden sugars in our food – savoury sauces, pasta dishes, ready made meals, crisps and snacks. Take a look at the ingredients before you buy and check the amount of sugar. Too much sugar can cause serious problems for your liver and can also contribute to cancer, heart disease and diabetes, * that is why it is important to only eat a bit of sugar in moderation, to remain healthy.
Happy Easter, enjoy the holidays, rest, relax and eat chocolate eggs… in moderation, I will be sharing one with my husband.
Much love and light,
